Stories of change
The difference is measured in people
“When my hours got cut, Kindred covered two months of rent and never once made me feel small. We’re still in our apartment because of them.”
Renata Alvarez
Housing program neighbor, Phillips
“I started as a Thursday tutor and it became the best part of my week. Watching a third-grader finally ‘get’ fractions — that’s the whole thing, right there.”
Daniel Osei-Bonsu
Volunteer tutor, 2 years
“As a clinic partner we see who Kindred reaches — the folks who’d otherwise wait until an ER visit. Their referrals genuinely change health outcomes here.”
Dr. Priya Nandakumar, MD

Good questions
Before you give
Still wondering about something? Email hello@kindredfoundation.example and a real person will write back.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Kindred Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 41-2098776). Every gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law, and you’ll receive an emailed receipt immediately plus a year-end summary each January.
How much of my gift actually reaches programs?
Ninety-six cents of every dollar goes directly to food, housing, education and health programs. The remaining four cents covers the audited accounting and modest fundraising that keep us accountable and growing.
Can I set up a monthly gift?
Absolutely — monthly Patchwork Partners are the backbone of our budget. Recurring gifts let us plan ahead and respond fast in a crisis. You can pause, change or cancel your amount anytime from your donor portal.
Do you accept in-kind or food donations?
We do. Non-perishable food, new winter gear and gently used laptops are always welcome at our HQ loading dock, Tuesday through Saturday. For larger corporate or estate gifts, email our development team to arrange a drop-off or pickup.
I’d rather give my time. How do I start?
Wonderful. Pick a role and shift on our volunteer page and we’ll follow up within two business days with orientation details. Most roles need no experience — just a willingness to show up. Groups and families are welcome too.
Does my employer match gifts?
Many do, and a match can double your impact. Check with your HR team, then send us the confirmation — we’ll handle the paperwork on our end so the matched funds land in the right program.
